TIP #8: Eat 5 or 6 Times a Day

Eat 5 or 6 Times a Day

It seems a little odd to say that if you want to lose weight, you have to eat more. But it’s true! And after you read this tip, you should be thinking “eat more, weight less”.

You have to stay nourished throughout the day to keep your metabolism working optimally. And, if your body knows that it’s going to be nourished on a regular basis, then it will burn the calories just like it should. However, when you don’t eat regularly, then your body, which is an incredible machine, goes into more of a starvation mode, because it doesn’t know when it’s going to get its next meal. So your metabolism starts to slow down and it begins to actually conserve and store calories.

Of course you don’t want that to happen on a weight loss program so you have to eat and eat enough on a regular basis which is about every 3 or 4 hours.

As for the number of meals, you will eat your typically 3 “big” meals and 2 snacks.

Here’s a sample plan of sorts.

  • 7:00am – Morning meal. It will be your biggest meal of the day.
  • 10:00am – Eat a snack. Fruit or something like that that’s not too heavy.
  • 1:00pm – Afternoon meal.  Eat and go by how you feel.
  • 4:00pm – Snack. Something that’s light and not too heavy.
  • 7:00pm – Evening meal. Here’s where I would actually suggest you eat something that’s similar to or a step above a snack. But again, go by how you feel or how hungry you are. If you actually want to have a big meal at this time, I would suggest you eat an apple and drink a glass of water about 15 minutes before you sit down to eat

Depending on when you go to bed, you could actually add another snack. Make sure that it’s very light and you eat it 1-2 hours before going to bed.

At any rate, this is purely a sample to give you an idea of what to eat and when to eat your 5 or 6 meals. You have to consider your personal schedule and how you can fit your meals and workout in throughout the day.

One of the main things to eating regularly and properly is that you don’t want to lose muscle…it’s too valuable

That’s because if you lose muscle, you lose your ability to burn calories. With less muscle, you burn less calories. It’s that simple.

Cutting calories below 1,050 per day can have a negative effect, because you need strong muscles to be able to exercise effectively.

So when you eat too few calories you lose fat but you also lose much-needed muscle, which is one of the worst things you could do because it slows your metabolism and makes it more difficult for you to increase your exercise intensity or duration.

Why Tip#8 can help you lose weight fast:

In order to lose weight fast, you need to have your body working at optimum efficiency which includes being properly nourished to keep your metabolism working effectively.

So make sure you eat regularly. If you try to lose weight by not eating or basically starving yourself, it can have the reverse effect. That is definitely NOT the way to go. If you try to starve yourself, you will lose weight, but you will also lose valuable muscle.

As stated earlier, muscle aids your metabolism which therefore helps you to burn calories. So you definitely should not be losing muscle. You should actually be trying to get more of it or at least not lose what you have. Of course we’re not suggesting that you become a body builder or anything of the sort.
