TIP #3: Focus on a Fitness Goal

Focus on a Fitness Goal

I believe very much in this particular concept because it’s so different than what you typically hear and it can be hugely effective if you follow through with it.

As a matter of fact, I think this one concept could take your weight loss program to a whole other level.

Normally, when you set your weight loss goals, you state how much weight you want to lose by a particular time. For example, you may say, “I want to lose 4 pounds a week” or “I want to weigh [a particular weight] by [a particular date].”

But, I want to you to think a little differently. Forget about how much weight you want to lose, and instead think about a particular fitness goal that you would like to achieve. For example, you could say, “I want to run a 7 minute mile 90 days from now” or “I want to be able to stay on the elliptical at a speed of 8 for 15 minutes.”

Hopefully, you can already see how effective this could be. You see, by focusing on the fitness goal and taking it seriously, you’re going to do whatever it takes to reach your goal. Meaning, in order to accomplish your goal, you’re going to watch your diet and train.

And, guess what? You can’t help but lose weight. And you’ll do it without stepping on the scale every day and being frustrated because it doesn’t look like you’re losing weight.

(On a side note to that, if you’re stepping on the scale to check your weight loss, stop. I believe that a better indicator is the waistline of a pair of pants. You can use a pair of pants to measure how much weight and how many inches you’re losing.)

As I said, that one tip of focusing on a fitness goal could make all the difference in the world with your weight loss program.

Why Tip#3 can help you lose weight fast:

You’ve heard of the phrase “collateral damage” which is “any damage incidental to an activity.” In other words, collateral damage is not the focus. It is what happened as a by-product of pursuing and accomplishing a goal.

I think you see what I’m getting at.

If your focus is on a very compelling fitness goal that you really want to achieve, then the “collateral benefit” is that you will lose weight and eat healthier in pursuit of your goal.

So, the harder you work towards your goal, the faster you will lose the weight.
